Forming technology

We specialize in resource-efficient processes in the field of forming technology. Our area of expertise includes technologies such as flashless or flash-reduced forging, cross wedge rolling, hydroforming and hybrid forging. We consider different materials in the field of forming technology, such as steel, stainless steel, aluminium, titanium and Inconel. We have more than 20 years of experience in the flashless forging sector, primarily with complex component geometries.

Service modules

The service modules listed below represent self-contained work content in our forming technology area of expertise. We have sophisticated and proven methods and tools for efficient processing.

Together with you, we identify the goals for your production and incorporate your requirements for the component to be designed as well as the forming processes (e.g. in terms of costs or quality characteristics).

In this phase, we systematically document the current state. This concerns, for example, an existing component, including the manufacturing process or the materials to be used.

This phase includes, for example, the creation of mass distribution diagrams, the interpretation of the stage sequence by means of FEM simulation and their evaluation, such as regarding form filling, forming, temperature or wear.

Based on the simulation results, the design of the forming tools is done using current CAD software (Catia, Creo). The tooling is done either by you or by one of our contracted external tool manufacturers.

The implementation of forming tests includes not only the planning and execution of experiments, but also the collection and analysis of measurement data (e.g. process or geometry data).

Based on the results of the forming tests, we evaluate the designed process, for example regarding investments or running costs. On request, we compare the result with other manufacturing processes.

Design of forming processes

You want to optimize an existing forming process? But you do not possess FEM programs for the design of forming processes? For capacity reasons, you currently cannot design your forming processes yourself? You would like to know what potential alternative forming sequences may have? Then we would be happy to support you in the design of respective forming processes.

 

Implementation of forming tests

Forming tests are interfering with your serial production? Or you want to test alternative forming methods, such as cross wedge rolling or flashless forging? You would like to know what potential alternative new materials (e.g. stainless steel, titanium, Inconel) may have for your components? You want to test modern wear protection coatings? You do not have facilities for forming, but are interested in the implementation of forming tests? Then we would be happy to perform appropriate tests for you.

Design and testing of forming processes

The production of your forming parts is material-intensive? Errors occur during forming, such as cracks? You want to investigate the formability of a new material? The manufacturing of preforms using an alternative forming process, such as cross wedge rolling, is of interest to you? You have no experience with forming processes, but want to make a component by means of forming? Then we would be happy to support you in the design and testing of respective forming processes.
