Assistance and evaluation of practical forming tests

In order to make forging process chains as efficient as possible, one or more preform operations are usually carried out before final forging. These serve to create a so-called mass pre-distribution. Up to now, preform operations have often been carried out using material-intensive or expensive processes such as drop forging or cross wedge rolling. This research project is therefore investigating the possibility of optimizing preform operations by means of novel heating strategies.

Your tasks

Your tasks include the supervision of forming tests in our workshop as well as the evaluation of the tests with regard to the required forming force, the temperature distribution, the mold filling as well as the deviations between the simulated 3D models and the real forged parts. For the evaluation of the deviation, the components are 3D-measured with our GOM coordinate measuring machine and subsequently compared with the nominal geometry.

You are interested in forming technology and practical experimental work.

You also have knowledge of CAD design, ideally with PTC Creo.

Excellent German and/or English language skills, both written and spoken, are necessary for the job.

The work can be written in German as well as in English.
