In the IGF research project AutoPot, IPH is developing a new key-characteristics method that enables small and medium-sized enterprises to independently assess the automation potential of manual workstations. To do this, we are transferring the established BAuA systematics of key-characteristics methods to the question of technical automatability for the first time. As a basis, IPH is building a real assembly lab workstation where the new method will be developed, tested, and validated.

Your tasks

You will take on the planning, design, procurement, and construction of our new assembly lab workstation as a reference case for the AutoPot method.

  • Planning and design of an assembly workstation for a small mechatronic assembly (e.g., electric motor or pump)
  • Selection and procurement of a workbench, parts containers, and a fixture/clamping device for the workpiece
  • Setting up a short conveyor belt and a camera rig for motion capture
  • Setting up the workstation for all four classic load types (lifting/carrying, forced posture, pulling/pushing, high-frequency tasks) as well as a quality control step
  • Commissioning and recording the first assembly activities for reproducible motion capture

Would you like to help shape a lab workstation from initial idea through to commissioning?

Then we look forward to receiving your application!

It would be ideal if you also:

  • Have good written and spoken German skills
  • Have experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)
  • Have practical, hands-on skills and an interest in procurement and workshop work
