The VIper research project (Changeability of IT systems in manufacturing companies) aims to enable manufacturing companies to independently assess and design the changeability of their socio-technical IT systems. To this end, a web-based self-assessment is being developed that can be used without expert knowledge. By analyzing change drivers and enablers, recommendations for action are derived that improve the adaptability and efficiency of IT systems. The aim is to increase the service life and performance of IT systems, especially for SMEs, in order to ensure their long-term competitiveness.

Your tasks

• Derivation of concrete recommendations for action (for different use cases) that can ensure the adaptability of IT systems of manufacturing companies (especially ERP and ME systems)

• The starting or starting points of your work are research activities that have already been carried out with regard to

• Drivers of change (i.e. “which influencing factors force a manufacturing company to change its IT systems?”) and

• Enablers of change (i.e. “what aspects are there that fundamentally enable manufacturing companies to use IT systems in the long term?”)

• Prioritization of your derived recommendation for action in terms of cost/benefit ratio

• Definition of different scenarios

• Development of a guideline for designing the ability to change

Your profile

You are studying one of the following subjects:

• (Business) Informatics
• (Business) Engineering
• or a comparable course of study

You have an interest in (and ideally some previous experience with) the digitalization of (manufacturing) companies, especially with regard to IT systems (in particular ERP and ME systems).

Good written and spoken German and English skills are necessary for the job.
