| Project title | Development of a method for selecting digital tools to increase planning efficiency in factory planning (AWeFaP) |
| Project duration | 01.05.2025 – 30.04.2027 |
| Video |
The AWeFaP research project aims to increase planning efficiency in the factory planning process through the targeted use of digital tools. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular, are to be supported in the selection of suitable tools through a systematic methodology.
The starting point is the realization that there is currently no structured overview of planning cases, suitable tools, and their data requirements. The project is therefore developing a description system for typical planning cases and a clustering of digital tools. In addition, a standardized structure for input and output data is being developed to increase data consistency. The selection method derived from this will be implemented in a software demonstrator and validated in practice.
This will enable SMEs to plan in a more targeted, economical, and high-quality manner. In addition to new factory buildings, reorganization projects will also benefit from the results.
Publications about the project
The multitude of possible applications for digital factory planning tools is particularly overwhelming for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The research project “Development of a selection methodology for digital tools to increase planning efficiency in factory planning” (AWeFaP) is therefore de‑ veloping a methodology for selecting digital tools in line with the VDI 5200 process. At the heart of the research project are a description system for specific planning cases, a clustering of tools, a uniform structure for input/output data, and a decision tree validated through practical scenarios.
