Episode 5 focuses on our research project "Development of ergonomically optimized forging tongs for force-assisted and vibration-damped handling of forged parts".
The forging industry is characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Characteristic of SMEs are small batch sizes and a high degree of flexibility. Forging tongs are therefore used for gripping, transporting and holding forged parts. The aim of this research project is therefore to develop a forging tong that is ergonomically shaped, dampens shocks and vibrations, provides support when applying the gripping force and reduces the stresses caused by the component weight. We will learn more about this from our guest David Schellenberg, M.Sc..
