The MotorInspector project aims to automate gap measurements in the quality assurance of electric motors using a digital gap measurement sensor and robotics.
One part of the project involves developing a computer vision-based robotics solution that allows the sensor to be inserted into the gap to be measured with millimeter precision.
Your tasks
Depending on the scope of the student's work and personal interests, the following tasks may be considered:
- Development of a camera concept for determining the position and orientation of the motor to be tested
- Research and selection of computer vision methods that dynamically support the robot's motion control
- Simulation and testing of the methods using a 6-axis robot arm and a motor model
- If necessary, practical testing of the methods, including setting up a test bench with a 6-axis robot arm and a camera sensor
- Conducting and documenting various experiments and highlighting the limitations of the methods investigated
Your profile
- Study in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, production engineering, computer science, or similar
- Interest in robotics, computer vision, simulation, and measurement technology
- You have knowledge of robotics and computer vision and, ideally, have had some initial experience with ROS2, OpenCV, Gazebo, or Webots
- Analytical thinking, structured approach to work, and independence
- Good written and spoken German and/or English skills
We offer
- Independent work
- Flexible working hours
- Well-equipped workplaces
- Home office by arrangement
- Test implementation
- Long-term collaboration, if applicable
