The goal is to develop an interactive trade fair demonstrator that combines voice control with robotics. Visitors can navigate mini spider robots through an obstacle course by giving voice commands. A large language model (LLM) interprets the spoken instructions and controls the robots in real time. The ESP32-based robots communicate with a central control PC via Bluetooth. The demonstrator clearly illustrates the combination of AI-based speech processing, embedded systems, and intelligent motion control.

Your tasks

Development of a trade fair demonstrator in which mini spider robots are controlled via voice commands over an obstacle course. An LLM processes the instructions in real time and transmits them via Bluetooth to ESP32-controlled robots. The best times of the day are displayed on a monitor.

  • Construction and commissioning of the mini spider robots (ESP32)
  • Development of the interface between LLM and robots for command transmission (Bluetooth)
  • Implementation of voice control (speech-to-text and interpretation via ChatGPT API)
  • Development of a GUI for displaying control commands and best times

Your profile

  • A degree in mechatronics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field
  • An interest in robotics, embedded systems, and artificial intelligence
  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python or C/C++)
  • Understanding of microcontrollers or communication interfaces (e.g., Bluetooth) is an advantage
  • Enjoyment of practical implementation and interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Independent, creative way of working and enjoyment of experimentation
