Thermomechanical joining can be used to produce a material-to-material bond between solid aluminum parts and steel sheets via a zinc interlayer. However, a number of questions remain unanswered:
Which parameters influence the strength of the joint? What are the differences compared with other joining processes? What would be the effect of dispensing with the zinc interlayer?
