As part of the WindGISKI joint project, an AI-based geoinformation system is being developed to identify potential areas for wind turbines. The aim of the project is to identify potential areas for onshore wind turbines in Germany.

Factors such as species protection, immission control, settlement structure, nature conservation and public acceptance influence the success of a wind power project and therefore also the suitability of an area. How these and other factors are interrelated will be analysed as part of the project.

Your tasks

  • Data pre-processing of the tiff files provided and development of a one-class ML model for the
  • potential area assessment for WTG projects
  • Literature research for validation and implementation of the validation of the results Literature research on feature importance
  • Writing an algorithm that enables the influencing factors to be weighted

Your profile

You are studying one of the following subjects:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Industrial engineering
  • Computer science
  • Robotics
  • Production and Logistics
  • Production Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

You are interested in data analysis, programming and artificial intelligence.

You also have a good knowledge of Python and have some experience with ML models. Good written and spoken German and English skills are desirable.
