The development of an assessment measure for resilience in the context of supplier selection is the goal of the research project "ReKriWahl". Supply chain resilience is understood as the adaptability of the supply chain and the ability to respond to unforeseen disruptions.

In the project, a software demonstrator is being developed that can be used to assess resilience – both from the perspective of the supplier company, in the form of existing resilience, and from the perspective of the selecting company, in the form of required resilience.

The required resilience of the selecting company is then compared with the existing resilience of the supplier company. If there is an imbalance there, the software demonstrator suggests measures that can be taken to improve the supplier company's resilience.
The assessment method is intended to support manufacturing companies in selecting resilient suppliers – and it is intended to create incentives for companies to actively participate in the development of their suppliers and jointly strengthen supply chain resilience.

Publications about the project

Supply chain resilience is massively gaining importance for manufacturing companies in times of severe disruption due to crises. Supplier selection is a key aspect of building a resilient supply chain. Currently, however, there is no holistic method for supplier selection that takes resilience into account. This paper therefore presents a research project that aims to develop an assessment measure for resilience in the context of supplier selection. The aim is to consider the existing resilience from the supplier company’s perspective and the required resilience from the selecting company's perspective.
