As part of the WindGISKI collaborative project, an AI model was developed to evaluate the wind energy site potential in Lower Saxony based on historical wind turbine locations. However, due to technological advancements and larger turbines, the underlying conditions have changed, making the existing model less applicable. The goal of this thesis is to develop a method that adapts the AI model to these changed conditions and ensures it can flexibly respond to future changes.
Your tasks
The work is divided into four work packages:
- You will gain an overview of relevant literature and analyze both the existing AI model and scientific approaches to model adaptation.
- You will identify and evaluate the changed conditions, technological advancements, and new regulations that affect the modeling and evaluation of wind energy sites.
- Based on the insights gained, you will develop a method to adapt the existing AI model to the new requirements, with a particular focus on a practical and flexible approach.
- You will implement the developed method and validate the adapted model using appropriate test data. Finally, you will evaluate the results and document how well the model now meets the changed conditions.
