The project

The aim of the AutoLaT research project is to develop an expert system for the selection of transport systems and the integrated creation of material flow-efficient layouts. For this purpose, the effects of the transport system selection (e.g. reach trucks) and the planning of the corresponding transport networks (e.g. route network for driverless transport systems) are to be taken into account in the layout planning (arrangement of plants and warehouses).

Your tasks

Preparation of a final thesis on the topic "Development of a mathematical optimization model for material flow efficient rough and detailed layout planning considering the influences of transport systems (MA)".

  • Development of a mathematical model for layout planning
  • Consideration of the characteristics of different transport systems in intralogistics
  • Implementation and validation of the model in Python

Your profile

You are studying one of the following subjects:

  • Industrial Engineer
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Production and logistics
  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics

You show interest in logistical issues, especially factory planning, warehouse planning, production planning and control.

In addition, you have programming skills, preferably in Python and knowledge in the area of operations research. Good German and English language skills in spoken and written are required.

You are communicative, open to new topics and appreciate working in flat hierarchies. Ultimately, you are given the opportunity to actively shape your work area yourself.
