Project Optimization of the service life of slide tools in forging presses with the variation of the closing mechanism and the forming speed (Standzeit Schieberwerkzeuge)

The project

Material efficiency is a decisive factor in increasing the economic efficiency of the production of geometrically complicated forged parts. The preforms, which can be optimized by multidirectional forming using slide tools, are decisive for efficient material utilization.

In the research project the influence of different process parameters on the resulting wear of slide tools in solid forming is investigated by simulative preliminary investigations. The aim is to create basic knowledge about the wear behaviour of slide tools in innovative multidirectional forging processes and to increase the resulting tool life by reducing wear.

Your tasks

Within the project, your tasks will include the independent handling of the following main topics:

  • development of a concept for the economic analysis of forging processes
  • analytical comparison of profitability between multidirectional and conventional forging processes
  • creation of a software demontrator for low-cost determination of case-specific cost developments

Within the ongoing work the deepening of competences in the calculation of economic efficiency and the handling of Excel (VBA) is made possible.

You study one of the following subjects:

You are interested in profitability and cost analysis.

You should also have a basic knowledge of VBA programming as well as good written and spoken German and English.
